Jim Gibbs is a member of two great teams: the Arlington Fire Department and the local Rotary club. He also loves and supports Mission Arlington.
Recently, Jim placed a challenge before his fellow Rotarians to help Arlington residents who were suffering in this extremely hot Texas summer. Gibbs placed $100 on the table and asked others to follow suit. They collected $1,300 dollars that day. They spent the money to purchase fans and brought them to Mission Arlington for distribution.

Soon, Rotary clubs from all across Arlington accepted the challenge. More than 300 fans poured into Mission Arlington. In a press conference held at Mission Arlington on Wednesday, August fifth, all three groups issued a call for the community to donate fans. The project is called “Operation Cold Front.”
Speaking for the group, Lt. Saldivar from the Arlington Fire Department acknowledged that 300 fans was indeed a good start, but that it was not nearly enough to meet the need in a city the size of Arlington.
Tillie Burgin, Mission Arlington’s long-time Executive Director, acknowledged that there is already a long waiting list for these fans, and that her staff and volunteers were ready to get the fans out to the people who needed them most.
If you would like to join “Operation Cold Front,” in order to help Arlington’s “at-risk” population, please bring your fan (or fans) to Mission Arlington’s main offices. Or, a donation to Mission Arlington designated as “Operation Cold Front” will also get fans to the people.
The Mission Arlington family is grateful to the Lord for such a loving and generous community.
