News: Summer Missionaries Arrive

Saturday, May 12, 2012 10:36 AM

Each summer, student missionaries, ages 16 to 24, arrive at Mission Arlington to work alongside of us for the summer.  They come from many cities across Texas, and from multiple states around North America.

They bring energy, enthusiasm, a love for the Lord, and positive, contagious spirits that make a difference here in our community.

These young people will work out back at Mission Arlington: sorting clothes, categorizing and storing food, separating household items, and delivering furniture.

They will work in our front room, providing excellent care for people in need, and throughout the community - in Rainbow Express, Summer Camps, tent revivals, after school programs, and more.  They will teach children and youth in Mission Arlington’s Bible studies and congregations across our city.

These energetic young people will live with us for much of the summer, work 7 days a week, for long days.  They will give of themselves to serve their Lord, and to make a difference here.

We will fall in love with them, and develop life long relationships.  The hot Texas summer will challenge all of us, and we won’t want them to leave.

Summer Missionaries at Mission Arlington are a gift, and not just to us, but to our city and our community.  We will care for them as they impact our city in untold ways.

Pictured above is Chelsea Martin, a Junior at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. Chelsea is a social work and Spanish major with a missionary heart. She will serve the Lord with us through the early part of the summer, then return to China for a season - a place she has served her Lord before.  Chelsea is our first summer missionary for this summer. She arrived this week.

We are so humbled that the Lord would send so many wonderful young people - just like Chelsea - our way.  Please pray with us and for them this summer.  We really do count on your prayers.

We thank God for you!
