This past Saturday, August 23rd, Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex joined forces with United Concordia, Davis Vision, and the Texas Rangers to offer free dental and vision services for Arlington’s youth.

More than 60 youth altogether received medical attention.  The dental clinic provided dental screenings, restorations and sealants for those who needed it. The eye clinic provided free vision screenings and prescription eyeglasses, all at no charge.

Texas Rangers' Mascott with Arlington's YouthTwo Texas Rangers ball players [Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia (25) and outfielder Brandon Boggs (41)], along with the Rangers Mascot, gave these young people something else to smile about - their own personal autograph.

This is the fourth consecutive year that these corporate sponsors have come together with Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex to support Arlington’s youth.

According to Harlon L. Robinson, a corporate Vice President at United Concordia, “Oral disease is a growing epidemic in the United States.  As recognition of oral health increases, so must community involvement to improve oral health care.  Dental decay can cause pain, loss of time from work and lower self-esteem.”

Joseph Wende, O.D., a senior vice-president for Davis Vision, says that by evaluating the vision and eye health of these children, we can initiate care for those in need immediately, helping to correct or prevent conditions that might negatively affect their vision, general health or educational abilities.”

The Allan Saxe Dental Clinic of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex has been in operation now for more than 15 years. The clinic has provided more than 6 million dollars of free dental care since its inception.
