On Saturday, August 15th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., three different teams came together with Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex to promote healthy smiles and good eyesight for teenagers in our community.
United Concordia coordinated with local dentists and other medical professionals from Davis Vision to provide medical support for the teens. The Texas Rangers also sent their staff to help out with this event.
Texas Ranger’s pitcher Tommy Hunter, and catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, along with the Ranger’s mascot, signed autographs, had their pictures taken, and in general, helped the Mission Arlington young people to feel special.
Thirty-five (35) youth were treated in the Allan Saxe Dental clinic. They received dental screenings, restorations and sealants (for those who needed it). In addition, a vision clinic, held in the Dr. Bob Mann Medical Clinic, provided free vision screenings and prescription eyeglasses for 20 youth.
Experts remind us that “Oral Disease is a growing epidemic, and that taking care of one’s eyesight early is important. Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex is so thankful for the support of these partners in our efforts to care for teenagers.
