Mangano and Zapasodi present a certificate of appreciation to Tillie Burgin

Phillip Mangano is the Executive Director of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. He, along with David Zapasodi of the Arlington Housing Authority, came to honor Mission Arlington for its work with people who are homeless.

Zapasodi and Mangano presented a plaque to Tillie Burgin, the Executive Director of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex in “recognition and appreciation” of their “continued outstanding public service and commitment to Arlington’s homeless.” The certificate was signed by Arlington Mayor Robert N. Cluck.

Mission Arlington provides transportation for those living in Arlington’s shelters. Guests are transported to work, to the doctor, and to school. Mission Arlington also provides temporary shelter from the heat, providing opportunities for work, and a host of other services.

Most of Mission Arlington’s work related to homelessness is preventative.  A very small percentage of people coming to Mission Arlington are homeless. Instead, Mission Arlington works diligently to keep people in their homes.

Mission volunteers provide food, utility and rent assistance to working people as a way of keeping people in their homes. More than 200 families six days each week come through Mission Arlington’s front doors.

Mission Arlington is grateful to be honored by such distinguished organizations, and for the constant support of this wonderful community.
