News: Heartache

The number of people coming through Mission Arlington’s front doors is revealing. The economy is hitting people hard, and work is more difficult to find than it has been in a long time.

By God’s grace, and with your help, Mission Arlington is able to provide practical support for struggling families. Yet, the heartache in people’s lives goes much deeper than their immediate need for physical relief.

A lady named Mary came through this week. She has been a faithful employee at one place for many years.  Because of the economy, they have had to scale back her hours.  Disappointment was weighing heavy on her heart when she came to Mission Arlington. She needed someone to talk with and pray for her.

Mary’s story is repeated over and over again. Whatever the financial need, the heartache behind the need brings people here. After receiving help here recently, one lady said “I came here for help, but instead I got my heart back.”

Mission Arlington volunteers know that we can’t “fix” people’s problems.  We also know that almost anyone can hand out food and clothes.  The heart of what we hope to do is to listen attentively to people experiencing real hurts.  We want people to know that someone truly cares for them.  Our desire is for people to find real hope for their hurts.

Thank you for the many ways you make this possible.
