Stories: On a new road
Thursday, October 19, 2006

A series of poor choices and difficult events took Kelly down a long and rocky road. Though she had a supportive family, and a good start in life, Kelly fell into the wrong crowd, and her life changed drastically.
Her drug use started slowly enough, but the habit grew, and ultimately took over her life. The people she thought were her friends disappeared. Her job went away too. She found herself in a difficult place, without a job, a place to stay, or a friend she could lean on. She ended up sleeping alone in her car and crying out to God for help.
Kelly remembered the church of her youth and reconnected with them. They in turn connected her to the Arlington Life Shelter who gave her a place to stay, and a host of other resources. Because Kelly was pregnant, and not too far from giving birth, it was difficult for her to find a job.
Mission Arlington had been helping Kelly with her transportation needs already. It was a natural step for her to join the Mission Arlington family as a staff member. In the three weeks that Kelly has been here, she has been a blessing to so many people.
Kelly’s poor choices and misteps are now in her distant past. She has given her life to God completely. She loves her church, and she has found a new family in Mission Arlington. Her relationship with God is also beginning to change. Kelly wants the Lord to be in the driver’s seat of her life.
Her smile is contagious! Anyone who works with her can see it. She is on a new road, and on her way to a new destination.
Mission Arlington thanks God for Kelly, for the family of helping services and churches that join together to give someone a hand up, and for each of you who make a difference here.
Praise His Name!
