Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex Recognitions

Since its inception in 1986, Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex has served as a standard for excellence in non-profit social work by a faith-based organization. 

Both religious and mainstream organizations have recognized the efforts of Mission Metroplex and Mission Arlington.  The following is just a partial list of awards received by Mission Metroplex, the founder/director Tillie Burgin and other mission friends and partners.

City of Arlington August 5th, 2008
Presented to Tillie Burgin by Mayor Robert N. Cluck: in Recognition and Appreciation for Tillie’s Continued Outstanding Public Service and Commitment to Arlington’s Homeless

Ft. Worth Business Press Health Care Hero January 2008
Allan Saxe Dental Clinic Director, Jean Cagle, received the Health Care Hero award.  Cagle was honored with this award by the Fort Worth Business Press.


2007

Santa USA December 2006
Recognition of Tillie Burgin and Mission Metroplex for support of Santa USA and its mission to care for kids. Appreciation expressed to Mission Metroplex for the care given to more than 36,000 children annually.


2006

Yellow Rose of Texas December 2006
Governor of Texas, Rick Perry awarded Tillie the Yellow Rose of Texas. This award is presented to women who better contribute to the betterment of the community.

Ebby Rose of Distinction September 2006
Awarded to Tillie Burgin by Ebby Halliday REALTORS and CBS 11.

Best Volunteer Organization
Awarded to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex by the staff of the Fort Worth Weekly.

Tillie Burgin Day August 2006
Mayor Robert N. Cluck and the Arlington City Council declared August 1st, 2006 as Tillie Burgin Day, marking the occasion of Mission Arlington’s 20th anniversary.

Business Partner of the Year February 2006
On February 23, 2006, the Arlington Police Department announced Mission Arlington as their Business Partner of the Year.

Minister of the Year January 2006
Tillie Burgin was awarded Minister of the Year for 2005 by the Arlington Ministerial Alliance


2005

Congressional Recognition December 2005
Presented to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex in recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the victims of Hurricane Katrina by Texas congressional representative Joe Barton on December 9, 2005.

Arlington Hero December 2005
In recognition and grateful appreciation of heroic services rendered in assisting Arlington visitors seeking shelter from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the City of Arlington declared Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex as an Arlington Hero on December 6th, 2005.


2004

Site of Promise December 2006
The Mission Arlington After School Program was recognized by the City of Arlington, TX and America’s Promise: The Alliance for Youth on December 14th, 2004.

Community Builder Award December 2006
The Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas awarded Tillie Burgin the Community Builder Award for 2005

Chevrolet “Lonestar Hero” May 2004
Tillie Burgin was announced the Chevrolet “Lonestar Hero” during the week of May 3rd by Chevrolet Trucks and KRLD Radio.

City of Arlington Tillie Burgin Day April 2004
Mayor Robert N. Cluck and the City Council declared April 6, 2004 as Tillie Burgin Day.

Physician’s Humanitarian Award Spring 2004
Tarrant County Medical Society honored Dr. Bob Mann with the Physician’s Humanitarian Award.  Dr. Mann was instrumental in the start of the medical clinic at Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex

Baptist Medical Dental Society
The Allan Saxe Dental Clinic and The Bob Mann Medical clinic of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex was honored in recognition of exemplary health care service by a faith based organization 


2003

Senate Resolution 350
Commendation of Tillie Burgin for her leadership and of Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex for its work.

Special Alternatives for Families and Youth
Rick Burgin was honored in his role at Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex as Friends of the Children

Women of the Year
Arlington Woman’s Club honored Tillie Burgin as Woman of the Year for 2003.

AISD Organization of the Year
Lynn Hale Leadership in Education honorored Mission Metroplex as the Organization of the Year


2002

Winfred Moore Award
Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University awarded Tillie Burgin the Winfred Moore Award for Lifetime Ministry Achievement.

May Owen Award
The Tarrant County Medical Society recognized Tillie Burgin for outstanding contribution of a nonphysician in the field of health care.


2000 - 2001

Mary Hill Davis Award 2001

The Mary Hill Davis Award was given to Tillie Burgin for pioneering work in the arena of missions

Texas Women’s Hall of Fame 2000
Texas Governor George W. Bush, inducted Tillie Burgin into the Texas Woman’s Hall of Fame.

Tillie Burgin Day 2000

City of Arlington Mayor, the Honorable Elzie Odom,proclaimed Tillie Burgin Day.

Tillie and Bob Burgin Elementary School 2000

Arlington Independent School District honored Tillie and Bob Burgin with an Elementary School named in their honor.
